Questions, answered straight

The things people ask before they hand over an email address. If yours isn't here, write to hello@realaicompany.com and you'll get an answer from a person.

What is WorkSoftware?

A memory for your working life. At the end of the day you write one line — who you met, what you promised, what you paid — and it turns that into people, promises and payments it can watch and chase. I built it because I kept dropping things, and I use it every day for the business and the school run.

Is it really free?

Yes. The personal product is free to use — not a trial, not a cut-down teaser. There will be a paid tier for businesses later, and when money moves through a collection we keep a small margin on the card fee. That's the model.

What do I actually have to do every day?

Write one line. That's genuinely the whole job — no forms, no fields, no filing. If you skip a day nothing breaks; backdate a line when you remember, or don't.

What happens to my words when I write a line?

The line is saved exactly as you wrote it — that's your journal, and it never gets rewritten. The system then reads it and works out what it found: Dave is a person, Friday is a deadline, £240 is a payment.

Anything it isn't sure of waits in a tray for your yes or no; only what it's confident about — a payment you plainly stated — is filed straight in. And every fact keeps a note of which line it came from, so you can always see why it believes something.

What if it makes a mistake?

It will, sometimes. That's why uncertain guesses queue as suggestions you approve or dismiss with a tap. Every fact — including the confident ones it files itself — carries a receipt back to the line it came from, so a wrong one is easy to find and easy to put right.

Who can see my family's things?

Only your family. Everything you write files into a circle — private, family, work, club — and nothing crosses a wall. Work colleagues can't see the dentist appointment; your family never sees a client's name. There's no global feed and no way to be accidentally public.

How do invites work?

Two ways. Share a join link — post it in the family WhatsApp or the club group chat, and anyone with it can join; you can switch on approval so you vet each request first. Or send an invite to one person by email from the circle page.

Can I get paid through it?

Yes, where payments are enabled on your account. Start a collection — kit fund, school trip, £15 each — and share one link. People pay by card, the board shows who has and hasn't, and the money lands in your account. Stripe handles the card details; we never see them.

How do clubs use it?

Mostly for the money and the turnout. The treasurer starts a collection and shares one link instead of matching bank transfers to nicknames; fixtures go in as gatherings people RSVP to from their phone, and the ones who haven't replied get one polite nudge. There's a longer walkthrough on the clubs page.

Can I ask it questions?

Yes. Ask in plain English — "who owes me money?", "what did I promise Sarah?", "when did we last speak to the surveyor?" — and it answers from your own records, with receipts showing which lines the answer came from. If an answer is worth keeping, save it as a smart list and it stays live as things change.

Can I email invoices or receipts into it?

Not yet — there's no email-in address today, and I'd rather tell you that here than let you find out after forwarding a month of invoices.

What works now: write the line. "Bar stock invoice from Greene King, £312, due end of month" becomes a dated money record that gets chased like any promise, and sits with every other money line, in and out, on the circle's timeline. For money you're collecting, a collection link does the tracking for you.

Reading emailed PDFs and CSVs straight into a circle's records is on the roadmap — the reviewing machinery it needs (suggestions you review before they count) is already how the rest of the product works.

Can it take notes from a lecture or a training session?

Yes — recordings have a lecture mode. Instead of attendees and action points, the recording is typed up into study notes: the key topics, terms and definitions, and a short list of things to review. Meetings get the decisions-and-commitments treatment; lectures get the revision treatment.

Is there a mobile app?

Open worksoftware.ai in your phone's browser, sign in, and choose "Add to home screen". You get an icon that opens full-screen and behaves like anything else on your phone — no store, no separate download, nothing extra to keep updated.

A native iPhone app is in the works — the plumbing for it (sign-in and push notifications) is already built. The home-screen install is the way in today.

What's the recorder extension?

A small browser extension that records a meeting — the sound of the call in your tab, plus your own microphone if you switch it on. When you press stop, the recording is sitting on your machine and nowhere else. That's the design, not a promise buried in a policy: unless you deliberately switch on the live-streaming mode, nothing leaves your computer until you press send.

From there you have two buttons. Save the file to your computer and walk away — that always works, no account needed. Or send it to one of your circles, where it gets typed up into a meeting note: who was there, what was decided, who promised what. Anything it isn't sure of queues as a suggestion for your yes or no, like everything else here. One honest limitation: the typing-up happens after the meeting ends, not live during it.

It's early days and it isn't in a web store yet. Write to hello@realaicompany.com and I'll send you the current build with install steps — it takes about a minute to load into Chrome.

Can I export my data, or leave?

Leaving has to be as easy as joining — that's the commitment. While it's early access there isn't a self-serve export button yet: write to hello@realaicompany.com and your journal and records come out as plain files you can read without us, and the account and its data are deleted. I'm not interested in keeping anyone by holding their notes.

Do you sell my data?

No. Nothing gets sold, shared or used to build anything for anyone else. The free product is paid for by the small margin on card payments and, later, the business tier — not by your data.

When can I use it?

It's in early use with a small group now. Join the waitlist, answer a few questions, and I'll send you a sample Monday note made from your answers — you'll get access as it opens up.
